Cranberry

So let’s get a few things straight. This is not the same cranberry that produces the refreshing red juice or the sauce that goes with your Thanksgiving turkey. Those cranberries grow in bogs. The median is not a bog. But the American Cranberry is a cranberry. And it’s a wonderful plant for the median nonetheless. This cranberry variety grows a tall, stout shrub. It produces bright red fruit like the other cranberry. But the fruit of the American Cranberry are tiny, and the plant is its own species. You can eat the sweet fruit right off the bush. The treat lasts into the fall, attracting wildlife.
