Mock Orange

Full disclosure: No oranges grow on this plant. This is Seattle, not San Diego. The mockery here is two-fold. The blossoms on this shrub look an awful lot like orange or lemon blossoms, and they smell rather like citrus as well. Mock Orange is a spectacular combination of fragrance and stunning good looks. In the right conditions, it grows like crazy: about two feet a year. So do keep checking in here. There are about 70 varieties of Mock Orange: tall, compact, wide, or variegated, and more. We're not sure which one we have here. It came to us as a donation from the kind, skilled folks at the Mountain to Sounds Greenway Trust. Many of the native shrubs in our large garden near Waters and Pilgrim came as part of that gift.
